Day 696 of the russian full-scale military aggression against Ukraine continues.

The russian federation continues to wage a war of aggression. Despite significant losses, it does not abandon its plans for the complete occupation of Ukraine. The enemy continues to ignore the laws and customs of war, uses terror tactics, conducts strikes, and shells both military and civilian targets. The enemy is actively using aircraft and FPV quadcopters, conducting assault operations with the support of armored vehicles.

The operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains difficult.

During the day of January 20, there were 72 combat engagements. The enemy launched a total of 3 missile (with S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles at the civilian infrastructure of Novohradivka, Donetsk oblast) and 4 air strikes, carried out 25 MLRS attacks at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements. Unfortunately, the russian terrorist attacks have resulted in civilian casualties and injuries. Over 35 private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

Volyn and Polissya axes: no significant changes. No signs of formation of an offensive group. Certain units of the armed forces of belarus continue their missions in the areas bordering Ukraine.

Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna axes: the adversary maintains its military presence in the areas of russia bordering Ukraine. The enemy continues its sabotage and reconnaissance activities, shelling Ukrainian settlements from the territory of russia and increases the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine. The enemy launched an air strike near Chernatske (Sumy oblast). Around 40 settlements came under enemy artillery and mortar fire, including Hremyach (Chernihiv oblast), Seredyna-Buda, Pavlivka, Volodymyrivka, Basivka (Sumy oblast), Udy, Okhrimivka, Zemlyanky, Khatnje (Kharkiv oblast).

Kupyansk axis: the Ukrainian defenders repelled 21 assaults in the vicinities of Synkivka, Petropavlivka (Kharkiv oblast) and Stelmakhivka (Luhansk oblast). In that area the occupies made attempts to breach Ukrainian defense. The invaders fired artillery and mortars at more than 15 settlements, including Dvorichna, Masyutivka, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Berestove (Kharkiv oblast).

Lyman axis: the Ukrainian defenders repelled 6 assaults near Terny, Yampolivka (Donetsk oblast), and 7 attacks in the areas of Serebryanske forestry, Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast). The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Karmazynivka, Nevske, Dibrova (Luhansk oblast), Ivanivka, Verkhniokamyanske, Spirne (Donetsk oblast).

Bakhmut axis: the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 8 attacks in the vicinities of Bohdanivka, Andriyivka and Klishchiyivka (Donetsk oblast), where the occupiers made unsuccessful attempts to improve their tactical situation. Around 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiyivka, Andriyivka, Kurdyumivka, New York (Donetsk oblast). 

Avdiyivka axis: the Ukrainian defenders repelled 6 enemy attacks near Avdiivka, and 11 more attacks south of Sjeverne, Vodyane, Pervomaiske and Nevelske (Donetsk oblast). In that area, the occupiers made unsuccessful attempts to breach Ukrainian defense. The invaders fired artillery and mortars at more than 15 settlements, including Novobakhmutivka, Avdiyivka, Tonenke, Pervomaiske, Netailove, Nevelske (Donetsk oblast).

Maryinka axis: the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back the invaders in the vicinities of Maryinka and Novomykhailivka (Donetsk oblast). In that area, the adversary made 4 failed attempts to improve its tactical situation. The settlements of Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Heorhiyivka, Pobjeda, Novomykhailivka, Paraskoviyivka were under artillery and mortar fire of the occupiers.

Shakhtarske axis: the adversary conducted no offensives. The enemy fired artillery and mortars at more than 10 settlements, including Vodyane, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, Urozhaine (Donetsk oblast).

Zaporizhzhia axis: the Ukrainian defenders repelled 1 assaults west of Verbove (Zaporizhzhia oblast), where the enemy made attempts to regain lost ground. More than 15 settlements, including Poltavka, Hulyaipole, Novoandriyivka, Shcherbaky, Kamyanske (Zaporizhzhia oblast), came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.

Odesa operational-strategic group, Kherson axis: the adversary fired artillery at the city of Kherson, as well as the settlements of Dmytrivka, Ochakiv (Mykolaiv oblast).

The occupiers do not abandon their intention to drive Ukrainian units out of their footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro. Thus, during the day, the enemy made 6 unsuccessful assaults on positions of Ukrainian troops. 

During the day of January 20, the Ukrainian Air Force launched air strikes on 6 concentrations of troops, weapons and military equipment, 1 air defense system, 1 ammunition depot, 1 signal post of the occupiers. 

The Ukrainian missile troops hit 3 concentrations of troops, weapons and military equipment, 1 command post, 1 electronic warfare station of the russian invaders.
