Update on the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus infection

According to the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as of December 21, in Ukraine there have been officially confirmed 6,545 (292 children out of this number, 236 healthcare workers) new cases of COVID-19 infection. The number of active cases makes up 368,060.

During the last 24 hours, there have been hospitalized 1,766 persons, 80 patients died, 5,106 persons recovered. There have been conducted 26,839 testing (22,149 using the PCR method and 4,690 using the ELISA method).

During the entire pandemic in Ukraine:

  • 970,993 persons contracted COVID-19 infection;
  • 586,268 people recovered;
  • 16,665 people died;
  • 5,303,103 testing have been conducted.

The largest number of confirmed cases in the last 24 hours was registered in Kyiv city (673), Odesa region (651), Dnipropetrovsk region (598), Zaporizhia region (570), Kyiv region (456).

Data from the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk regions and the city of Sevastopol are not available. The studies were conducted by the Virology Reference Laboratory of the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as well as by regional laboratories.
