Update on the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus infection

According to the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as of April 20, in Ukraine there have been officially confirmed 8,940 (414 children out of this number, 251 healthcare workers) new cases of COVID-19 infection. The number of active cases makes up 421, 837.

Since the beginning of the immunization campaign, 462,791 people have been vaccinated. On April 19, 2021, 12,144 people were vaccinated against COVID-19. Of this number 5,420 people got CoviShield vaccine, 3,220 – CoronaVac vaccine, 3,504 – Comirnaty vaccine.

During the last 24 hours, there have been hospitalized 2,042 persons, 367 patients died, 12,075 persons recovered. There have been conducted 77,678 testing (37,557 using the PCR method, 16,815 using the ELISA method and research by rapid tests for antigen to SARS-CoV-2 – 23,306).

During the entire pandemic in Ukraine:

  • 1,961,956 persons contracted COVID-19 infection;
  • 1,499,752 people recovered;
  • 40,367 people died;
  • 8,996,039 testings have been conducted.

Data from the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk regions and the city of Sevastopol are not available. The studies were conducted by the Virology Reference Laboratory of the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as well as by regional laboratories.

The Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine urges when having the first symptoms of respiratory illnesses to call a family doctor. Stay home! Self-isolation is the most efficient way to protect yourself from infection.
