Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanishyna met with ambassadors of the EU member states and the Head of the European Union Delegation to Ukraine. The meeting took place after the Verkhovna Rada passed a set of laws to implement the recommendations of the European Commission, and on the eve of the European Council meeting on December 15.

The participants of the meeting discussed in detail the progress in implementation of each of the 7 recommendations of the European Commission necessary for Ukraine’s further movement to the EU.

The Deputy Prime Minister stressed the importance of regular exchanges to better inform the capitals of the EU member states about the reforms and transformations that Ukraine is implementing despite the full-scale war: “Ukraine has repeatedly proved, especially since February 24, that we are a resilient democratic state. After almost 10 months of full-scale war, no one has any doubts about our capabilities and potential. I urge you to work together to deepen understanding of Ukraine in the EU countries, as well as to build an objective perception of the progress we have made and continue to make in reforms.”

Olha Stefanishyna noted the high mobilization of the Ukrainian authorities around the course of European integration and prioritization of steps to be taken on this path. This is confirmed by the comprehensive bills adopted by the Parliament over the past few months to implement the recommendations of the European Commission.

The parties also discussed further steps to eliminate barriers between Ukraine and the EU, in particular the integration into the EU internal market. The participants also discussed the consequences of a full-scale war, support for Ukraine in the context of missile terror and mobilization of international efforts to restore peace based on the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
