  • Olha Stefanishyna: There should be no barriers in trade and political issues between Ukraine and the EU

    Today, November 13, an online meeting of the EU-Ukraine Association Committee took place. It was dedicated to the discussion of the preparation and practical content of the Association Council scheduled for December 2020.

    "We are facing a new big agenda that will allow to realize Ukraine's ambitions for political association and economic integration into the EU. After all, the European Union is our largest trading partner and political ally, so we must be sure that there are no barriers between our countries when it comes to trade or the political dimension," said Olha Stefanishyna, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine.

    Among the priority issues on the top agenda, the Deputy Prime Minister noted the following directions:

    • updating the annexes to the Association Agreement
    • digital agenda
    • integration of energy markets
    • implementation of European Green Deal policies.

    The official also stressed the importance to maintain a dialogue on logistics and transport.

    Background

    The Association Committee prepares for the meetings of the Association Council, submits proposals or draft decisions or recommendations to the Association Council for approval. The Association Committee consists mainly of representatives of senior officials of Ukraine and the EU.
