Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, posted 04 November 2021 13:57

There are currently 36 citizens security centers in Ukraine, which combine fire and emergency medical care and police into a single model of security communication. Their number should grow and cover all regions of Ukraine. The main task of the said centers is to eliminate the consequences of emergencies, fires, accidents, as well as to provide assistance in road accidents. This was emphasized by Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Chernyshov

during the Ukraine 30. Safe Community Forum. The event was chaired by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The Forum was attended by Deputy Head of the Office of the President Kyrylo Tymoshenko, Minister of Internal Affairs Denys Monastyrskyy, Head of the National Police Ihor Klymenko, Head of the State Emergency Service Mykola Chechotkin, representatives of local governments, MPs and experts.

"Creating an environment in which everyone feels protected is one of the most important tasks of decentralization reform and the new regional policy of the Government. As a result, a network of citizens security centers is being developed in the communities, combining fire, emergency and police care into a single model of security communication. The plan is to create more than 350 such Centers and cover communities in all regions of Ukraine. They will provide around-the-clock response to a person's request for emergency care for up to 20 minutes. Currently, more than 300 communities do not have local or voluntary fire and rescue units on their territory. The government is working to correct this in the short term," the Minister stressed.

According to Oleksii Chernyshov, the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development in synergy with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Health, has shaped an order defining clear criteria for the establishment of security centers, including accessibility, capacity and quality infrastructure. It should be noted that currently the largest number of such centers is in Donetsk region (16). Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, Vinnytsia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Rivne, Cherkasy, Zakarpattia, Odesa, Kherson, Khmelnytsky and Chernivtsi regions already have similar centers.

In addition, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Police, the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development participates in the implementation of the Community Police Officer project.

"We are talking about an officer of the National Police who lives and works in a certain territorial community. Its main tasks are to ensure order, prevent offenses and resolve possible conflicts at the stage of their emergence. Currently, 450 community police officers work in 19 regions of Ukraine, covering 279 territorial communities. This indicator will grow - together with colleagues from the Ministry of Internal Affairs we are actively working on it ", Oleksii Chernyshov emphasized.

It should be noted that earlier Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Chernyshov opened citizens security center in Novogrodivka, Donetsk region.
