Oleksiy Chernyshov starts working visit to Belgium

As part of a working visit to the Kingdom of Belgium, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Unity of Ukraine Oleksiy Chernyshov held several official meetings. Notably, he met with Belgium’s Minister for Asylum and Migration, and Social Integration, Anneleen Van Bossuyt.

During the meeting, the parties focused on:

• Awareness campaigns for Ukrainians in Belgium regarding their rights and available services;
• Issues of support, reintegration, and voluntary return of Ukrainians;
• Cooperation with Ukrainian diaspora organisations and engaging communities in joint initiatives.

It is worth noting that since the start of the full-scale invasion, Belgium has granted temporary protection to over 90,000 Ukrainians forced to flee their homes.

Oleksiy Chernyshov expressed gratitude to Belgium’s Minister for her openness and readiness for partnership.

Additionally, the Deputy Prime Minister held a meeting with Belgium’s Minister of Security and the Interior, Bernard Quintin.

The officials discussed a wide range of pressing issues, from security challenges to the humanitarian situation amid the full-scale war. Particular attention was given to initiatives supporting Ukrainians abroad.

Oleksiy Chernyshov also presented the concept of Unity Centres.

“The idea of creating such spaces resonated with the Minister. We agreed to deepen institutional cooperation between our ministries. I thank Bernard Quintin for the constructive dialogue and support for Ukraine,” the Deputy Prime Minister concluded.
