Ukraine is relying on the support of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to develop a comprehensive economic recovery strategy that will ensure sustainable GDP growth, the return of the workforce, and the stimulation of private investment.

This was discussed during a meeting between Ukraine’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Yuliia Svyrydenko, and Alfred Kammer, Director of the IMF’s European Department, in Washington on 4 June.

During the meeting, IMF representatives assured that, regardless of developments concerning a ceasefire, the IMF is prepared to continue supporting Ukraine.

“We are grateful to the IMF for its support, which has helped Ukraine navigate the most challenging phases of the war, maintain macro-financial stability, and begin recovery. We aim to focus on long-term objectives – GDP growth, attracting investments, and reintegrating millions of Ukrainians currently outside the economically active sector,” Yuliia Svyrydenko stated.

The Government is counting on accelerating privatisation processes and is examining what changes are needed to streamline procedures for both large- and small-scale privatisation.
