Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Olexandr Saienko and Head of the Support Group for Ukraine at the European Commission Peter M. Wagner discussed the issue of EU-Ukraine cooperation in implementing the public administration reform (PAR).

During the meeting, Olexandr Saienko and Peter M. Wagner touched upon the recent SIGMA baseline measurement report on the implementation of the PAR  in Ukraine.

The Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers recalled that the report was shaped with the use of the rigorous evaluation system, which is being applied for the potential members of the European Union.

"This was a certain challenge for us, but we got a positive result on many criteria. And although this report assesses the state of the system of state administration that we got from the Soviet past, this assessment is very important for us and serves as a benchmark for pursuing institutional changes", Olexandr Saienko stressed.

According to the Minister, the blueprint for further actions will encapsulate  the retrofitting of the reform strategy and the focus on the "bottlenecks" highlighted in the report.

"It is incredibly  important for us to carry out PAR at the highest possible standards, because it has been a trigger for all other reforms. And I am grateful to Peter M. Wagner for praising the transformations that have already been made", the Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers underscored.
