  • Oleksandr Kubrakov: New aid package worth USD 42.9 million is approved with Denmark, with focus on Mykolaiv and Mykolaiv region

Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine, Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, chaired the third meeting of the Steering Committee of the Mykolaiv-Mykolaiv region-Denmark Partnership, during which the participants approved a new USD 42.9 million aid package for Ukraine, with a focus on assistance to Mykolaiv and Mykolaiv region.

"We agreed a new aid package for Ukraine worth USD 42.9 million, with a focus on Mykolaiv and the region. It is crucial to continue the region's recovery and strengthen its winterisation process. The partnership between Ukraine and Denmark in rebuilding the Mykolaiv region is one of the best examples of intergovernmental understanding, quick decision-making and involvement in the process. Together, we have built a model where both government agencies and businesses can participate in the reconstruction," said Oleksandr Kubrakov.

The aid package includes the purchase and installation of equipment for heat supply, water supply, district heating, and support for the reconstruction of critical social infrastructure and civilian institutions in the region.

As a reminder, Denmark has taken a leading role in the reconstruction of Mykolaiv. On 7 March 2023, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Denmark, Mykolaiv and Mykolaiv region. The cooperation is focused on eight areas: infrastructure, good governance, maritime industry, transport, urban planning, development of small and medium-sized enterprises, and green transition, youth, and culture.

A Steering Committee was set up with Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, and Dan Jørgensen, Minister for Development Cooperation and Global Climate Policy of Denmark, to coordinate the work.
