  • Ukraine is interested in participation of the U.S. financial corporation in the development of Ukrainian infrastructure: Oleksandr Kubrakov

    Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine and Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development, and Scott Nathan, CEO of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), discussed the restoration and development of critical infrastructure using the latest technologies, environmental standards and taking into account security risks.

    "The participation of international partners, in particular businesses, is an indispensable condition for the implementation of critical infrastructure restoration projects. Their experience, standards, and best practices will allow us to make a qualitative step forward for the entire infrastructure.

    For our part, we are creating conditions to ensure that businesses do not face any obstacles in their work, and that all processes related to investments are as transparent and open as possible. In particular, we are creating a Digital Reconstruction Management System, in which each stage of reconstruction can be tracked online, as well as reforming procurement procedures in line with international standards. We also appeal to the governments of partner countries to support the private sector in its efforts to work in Ukraine.

    I am grateful to Scott Nathan and the DFC representatives who share these aspirations. We agreed to work together to ensure that American business takes a more active part in rebuilding Ukraine," commented Oleksandr Kubrakov.

    According to the Deputy Prime Minister, Ukraine is most interested in assistance in the following issues:

    • development of logistics routes for Ukrainian exports;
    • projects aimed at strengthening Ukraine's role as one of the guarantors of food security in the world;
    • search, purchase and supply of energy equipment and systems;
    • providing access to modern technologies for the protection of critical infrastructure;
    • consulting services and supply of materials and technologies to Ukraine.

    The talks between Oleksandr Kubrakov and Scott Nathan were also attended by representatives of the Ministry, U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink and representatives of DFC.
