  • Oleksandr Kubrakov: We held the second meeting of the joint UK-Ukraine Infrastructure Taskforce, focusing on deepening UK business involvement in Ukraine’s reconstruction

The second meeting of the UK-Ukraine Infrastructure Taskforce has taken place. The discussion focused on deepening the involvement of UK companies in the reconstruction of Ukraine.

According to Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development, it is important that these meetings are held jointly with Nusrat Ghani, Minister of State at the UK’s Department for Business and Trade.

“Currently, cooperation is developing within the framework of assistance to Ukraine – financing the reconstruction of bridges in Kyiv region. We expect to complete the construction of 3 bridges in the coming months and the same number next year. We are working to expand this cooperation even to the frontline regions.

Cooperation between Network Rail and Ukrzaliznytsia is also important. We are discussing the implementation of a GBP 10 million technical assistance package to restore rail infrastructure.

We continue to work with leading UK companies such as AECOM, Building Design Partnership Ltd, Gensler and Zaha Hadid. I am grateful to them for their willingness to support Ukraine. In particular, we are preparing surprise projects with Zaha Hadid. We will announce them later.

I thank our British colleagues for their clear position and openness. The United Kingdom is one of our most reliable and strongest partners. We believe that our joint work, especially with the involvement of the business community, will help us rebuild Ukraine’s infrastructure faster and better,” said Oleksandr Kubrakov.
