  • The new Verkhovna Rada has to adopt 17 laws on decentralization, says Hennadii Zubko

My mission as Deputy Prime Minister is to hold political consultations with all the political forces that have entered the Parliament. We sent letters to all political parties, and our team has already hold consultation, including representatives of the Servant of the People party. We have shown the progress of decentralization reform, the critical points, and we have presented our vision for the continuation of reforms and all the necessary steps (primarily legislative) and their timeframes.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine Hennadii Zubko told in an interview with IA “Ukrinform”.

“We have drafted and registered in Parliament 17 critical bills for the development of decentralization reform. It is of great concern to me to ensure the decentralization issues be included in the new coalition agreement and what needs to be done to complete this reform. The program of the political party the Servant of the People contains the continuation of the decentralization reform, the transfer of powers to local governments and the introduction of the prefecture institution. I think that nobody will refuse that. Among other critical issues are energy efficiency and deregulation in the construction sector, reform in heating supplies”, said Hennadii Zubko.

The official said that the coalition agreement designed back in 2014 was fulfilled at almost 97%. "But there is a need for changes to the Constitution, the introduction of the prefecture institute, the transfer of full powers to local governments", the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.
