Germany contributes an additional EUR 250 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund

Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy is providing an additional contribution of around EUR 250 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund through KfW Development Bank.

“I thank the German Government and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Katherina Reiche personally. This support is vital to strengthening the resilience of Ukraine’s energy sector ahead of winter,” said First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.

Germany is the largest donor to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund. With the contribution announced today, its total support for the Fund will reach EUR 807 million. Donors have contributed more than EUR 2.4 billion in total.

“However, amid continued russian attacks, the needs of Ukrainian energy companies remain considerable. We need to raise a further EUR 561.5 million for the Fund and count on the continued support of our partners,” Denys Shmyhal said.
