Natalia Kalmykova discussed support for Ukrainian veterans with Lord Michael Ashcroft

Ukrainian Minister for Veterans Affairs Natalia Kalmykova held a meeting with prominent British philanthropist and businessman Lord Michael Ashcroft. The goal was to expand the circle of international partners supporting the reintegration of our defenders into civilian life.

Deputy Minister Oleh Shymansky and relevant specialists from the Ministry for Veterans' Affairs also joined the meeting.

Lord Michael Ashcroft has been an active supporter of Ukraine since the start of the full-scale invasion. He often visits our country and has repeatedly visited the frontline zones and de-occupied territories.

He has directed millions of dollars to humanitarian projects, including the modernization of children's hospitals and the restoration of infrastructure in Borodianka. He writes analytical articles for British publications, drawing the world's attention to the Ukrainian people's struggle for independence.

During the meeting, Natalia Kalmykova and Lord Michael Ashcroft discussed promising areas of cooperation. The Minister noted that the effective reintegration of defenders requires the creation of an appropriate environment that takes into account physical, psychological, economic, and social needs. This includes relevant infrastructure, expanded educational opportunities and professional development programs, as well as initiatives for the physical and psychological rehabilitation of veterans and their families.

The skills, motivation, and leadership experience acquired by defenders during their service should be continued in their professional careers in civilian life, contributing to the reconstruction of the state and strengthening its stability.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to work out the details for further cooperation in support of veterans.

Natalia Kalmykova expressed her gratitude to Lord Michael Ashcroft for his assistance and consistent support for Ukraine.
