Today, Zhytomyr State Technological University, I graduated from, got a pro-European name - Zhytomyr Polytechnic University. This is a cool and rather symbolic name. It is an old European practice to call technical universities Polytechnics. Now on the map of European universities, there will be Zhytomyr Polytechnic University along with the famous Gdańsk, Wrocław, Lublin, Milan and Lviv regions. But it is a matter not only of the name of the university but first and foremost – of the essence, patriotism, creativity and determination of students of this higher educational institution.

Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine Hennadii Zubko stated during the meeting with students and academic staff of Zhytomyr State Technological University.

"Student years are a golden time for both young people and faculty members who teach you. Every year, after each graduation ceremony more and more professionals, this year their number exceeds 2000 masters, will go to work in the sector of the country’s economy. And this is the strong force that will be the elite and leaders of the changes of the future European state - Ukraine", said Hennadii Zubko.

Currently, the University of Zhytomyr plays a significant role in the country's development - the introduction of energy efficiency and the management of intelligent systems.

"Zhytomyr Polytechnic University is the only engineering and technological higher educational institution in Zhytomyr region. I believe it has a promising future. As nowadays the most demanded specialties are the technical ones. And you are the future engineering elite that Ukraine needs so much. Your role in the management of intellectual systems, making key decisions in the country's economy is critical to prolong the development of the state", said the official.

Deputy Prime Minister stressed that students have always been the driving force. This was during the Revolution of Dignity when students went out and defended the European course, and it is happening today as well. In Zhytomyr State Technological University, besides the powerful educational process, the curriculum includes also patriotic education. More than 500 full- and part-time students are ATO participants.

"Ukraine has chosen a European development course. We signed an agreement with the EU, implemented a number of European Directives, got visa-free regime, started deregulation reforms, decentralization - all that was necessary to ensure that all of you, our children and grandchildren, live in a successful European country. It depends on you, young people, whether we will continue this way towards the European future. The path to Europe is your way", said Hennadii Zubko.

It should be noted that throughout three years, the university has abandoned gas and switched to alternative fuels and LED lighting. Foreign students from 11 countries are studying here. About 70% of the academic staff is under 45. Under the state order for training specialists, 60% of students undergo studies. New modern faculties and specialties are opened, in particular, mine surveying (markscheider service) and mining law, energy audit.
