The team of the Ministry of Digital Transformation managed to provide almost 30,000 Starlinks for Ukraine: Mykhailo Fedorov
Today, about 30,000 Starlinks are operating in Ukraine, obtained through the agreements of the Ministry of Digital Transformation with international donors and partners. The terminals allow Ukrainians to use high-quality Internet even in hard-to-reach places, as well as to stay in touch even during blackouts. Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov showed how the Starlinks work in one of the Invincibility Points of the SES.
"The Internet is a basic need today. The team of the Ministry of Digital Transformation provides Ukraine with Starlinks so that Ukrainians can use high-quality communication where fixed or mobile communication does not work. We have recently received a new batch from Poland - 8,000 terminals. We are handing over a significant part of them to the Points of Invincibility. Hundreds of Starlinks are already working there so that Ukrainians can make calls, call an ambulance or work during blackouts. For 10 months of full-scale war we managed to provide almost 30,000 Starlinks for Ukraine," said Mykhailo Fedorov.
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Starlinks have become part of the critical infrastructure. Thanks to the terminals, hospitals, schools, energy and social spheres continue to work. Also, telecommunications workers use Starlinks to quickly return communication to the de-occupied territories. Ukrainians can contact their relatives or use the Internet, in particular, at the Points of Invincibility.
In addition, a significant part of Starlinks is received by the military. This is our competitive advantage, which the enemy does not have. The terminals have already changed the course of the war and help to bring our victory closer.
The team of the Ministry of Digital Transformation continues to negotiate with SpaceX and partners to ensure that Ukraine receives even more Starlinks.
We are grateful to our colleagues - Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki and Secretary of State for Digital Affairs of Poland Janusz Cieszyński - for their strong support. As well as the National Institute of Telecommunications and the Orlen company.
