Ministry of Healthcare: Ukraine has the capacity to test for COVID-19 everyone in need
The main method of diagnosing COVID-19 remains PCR testing. Currently, the capacity of public laboratories allows testing anyone who needs it.
Last year, 11.2 million PCR tests were performed, of which 2/3 in the laboratory centers of the Ministry of Health. Meanwhile, no delays in testing and no interruptions in the supply of test systems were recorded. An additional 8.2 million studies were conducted by rapid tests, most of which were purchased from the state budget.
Currently, more than 2 million amplification studies and more than 1.9 million RNA extraction studies are recorded at laboratory-level residues.
The regions also have more than 466,000 express tests and more than 1.2 million kits for the selection of biological PCR material.
In addition, during the first quarter of 2022, additional PCR kits will be purchased to cover another 825,000 studies.
Also with the support of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), 2 million rapid tests for coronavirus disease have arrived in Ukraine.
To increase the capacity to work with samples of biological material, 60 refrigerators and 60 freezers were purchased and delivered to laboratories that test for COVID-19.
It should be noted that you should consult your family doctor when having the first symptoms of SARS, because any symptoms of a viral disease are grounds for referral for free testing for COVID-19. That is why you should not delay a visit to the doctor.
It should be noted that Ukraine can detect any variants of viruses, including Omicron.
