Ministry of Education and Science: More than UAH 46 million will be allocated to school canteens
Communities will receive UAH 46.5 million to complete the modernisation of school canteens that began in 2025. The allocation of the subvention was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
The funding is intended for 19 facilities that are already at a high level of readiness – at least 60%. These will receive additional financing so that communities can finish the works and open the upgraded food blocks for children.
Modern school canteens mean safe conditions, high-quality equipment and the ability to provide children with proper nutrition. That is why in 2026 the state continues to invest in the renovation of school food block infrastructure.
Some projects could not be completed within the set deadlines, but the need to upgrade school infrastructure remains high. That is why their implementation has been extended.
Thanks to the additional financing:
- schools will receive modern and safe food blocks;
- communities will complete the projects they started without losing the investments already made;
- children will have better conditions for daily meals.
Overall, approximately 20% of canteens have already been modernised: 188 through the state subvention (155 completed, 33 still being implemented), and more than 1,500 canteens have been upgraded thanks to funding from local budgets and support from international partners.
The effective use of state funds and the transparency of project implementation are ensured by the team of experts from the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative in Ukraine (EUACI), which carries out comprehensive monitoring at all stages of the projects – from procurement to the execution of construction works.
