Irpin restored to 80%, says Oleksii Kuleba
In Irpin, the Consultative and Diagnostic Centre for adults, damaged during hostilities in spring 2022, has been restored.
The building sustained significant damage due to russian armed aggression, with three direct hits causing structural destruction.
The reopening of the medical facility was attended by Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Ukraine Seymur Gurban oglu Mardaliyev, Head of Kyiv Regional Administration Mykola Kalashnyk, representatives of the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ukrainian MPs, and international partners.
“Irpin is a city that suffered some of the worst damage during the hostilities in spring 2022. Today, the city has been restored to 80%. This is the result of extensive joint efforts by the state, local communities, businesses, and international partners. The scale of restoration includes residential buildings, medical facilities, educational infrastructure, and cultural and sports facilities. One such facility is the restored Consultative and Diagnostic Polyclinic for adults. This restoration was made possible through cooperation with the Azerbaijani government and SOCAR. A new large shelter has also been built. The medical facility remains a cornerstone of healthcare in the community, and a new inpatient building is planned to open this year, which will expand its capacity to provide medical care,” stated Oleksii Kuleba.
Restoration work included insulating and fully renovating the facade, equipping a shelter in the basement, repairing the roof, restoring the ventilation system, installing a modern fire alarm system, reconstructing the central stained-glass windows, and building a new ramp and entrance. The estimated cost of the work was UAH 60 million.
“I am grateful to our partner country, Azerbaijan, for their consistent support and involvement in rebuilding the region. Together, we have planned the construction of a cultural centre, a sports school, an arts centre, and a residential complex in Irpin. These are important steps for community development and creating new opportunities for residents.
I also thank the medical facility’s team and personally the chief physician, Anton Dovhopol. During the most challenging times, he stayed with the people, organised aid during hostilities, and supported the community under occupation. He continues to work for the community today,” commented Oleksii Kuleba.
The attendees also discussed expanding inter-regional cooperation.
