  • Ministry for Strategic Industries: The Netherlands has joined the ZBROYARI: Manufacturing Freedom initiative

The Netherlands has earmarked EUR 60 million for the purchase of drones for Ukraine. Of this amount, EUR 20 million will be used to purchase FPV drones as part of an international drone coalition, EUR 22.5 million for Dutch drones, and EUR 17.5 million for Ukrainian-made maritime drones.

The allocation of funds was announced by the Minister of Defence of the Netherlands, Kajsa Ollongren, after her visit to Ukraine. Together with the Commander of the Dutch Material and IT Command, Vice Admiral Jan Willem Hartman, she visited, among other things, companies that produce various types of drones, as well as military facilities and a drone training centre.

"Every time I come here, I am impressed by the resilience of Ukrainian society and the dedicated people, both military and civilian. The Netherlands can also learn a lot from the enormous innovation and creativity of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. It is a pleasure to share experiences with each other," said Kajsa Ollongren.

In Kyiv, Kajsa Ollongren met with the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and the Minister of Defence Rustem Umerov.

"The Netherlands is the third country, after Denmark and Canada, to join our arms initiative by allocating funds for the purchase of weapons for the Ukrainian Defence Forces in our country. We are grateful to our partners for their faith in Ukrainian defence and for their consistent support. We will continue to work together - we have agreed to hold a bilateral defence industry forum this autumn," said Minister of Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshin.

It is worth reminding that ZBROYARI: Manufacturing Freedom is a global fundraising campaign, a strategic fundraiser among partner countries. Its goal is to raise USD 10 billion for the production of Ukrainian weapons in 2024. As part of the project, we already have three donors: in addition to the Netherlands, Denmark has earmarked USD 28.5 million and Canada has allocated USD 2.1 million for the purchase of Ukrainian weapons for the Ukrainian army.
