From mid-January to mid-March, Ukrzaliznytsia employees participated in emergency restoration work in Kyiv following russia’s massive missile and drone attacks. During this period, railway workers restored heating, water supply, and sewer systems in 748 residential buildings across various districts of the capital.

“This winter, railway workers did an extraordinary work for Kyiv residents—restoring heat and water to people’s homes after enemy strikes. They worked quickly, professionally, and often under very difficult conditions. We are grateful to each of them for this work, and therefore, the state is providing an additional payment of 20,000 hryvnias to everyone who participated in the repair work. This also applies to railway workers who restore the railway daily following enemy attacks in all regions of the country. Over a thousand Ukrzaliznytsia specialists have already received these funds for their work in January,” noted Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba.

Restoration crews worked in all districts of Kyiv. The largest number of sites were restored in the Pecherskyi district—246, the Solomianskyi district—194, and the Dniprovskyi district—149. During peak periods, up to 260 specialists from various fields were involved in the work during a single shift: builders, track workers, bridge builders, car repairers, locomotive engineers, passenger service staff, and other railway workers.

During the work, specialists commissioned and filled the heating systems, repaired the sewer system, conducted hydraulic tests on the pipelines, replaced sections of the water supply and heating networks, cleaned stands and main pipes, replaced radiator sections, and insulated the pipelines. After the work was completed, an inspection of the networks’ condition was conducted in collaboration with housing services.
