Ministry for Reintegration of the Temporary Occupied Territories calls on the international medical humanitarian organization MSF to organize an evacuation mission to rescue Azovstal defenders

The Ministry for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine calls on Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) - MSF to organize an evacuation mission to rescue the Azovstal defenders.

The wretched conditions of life of all those under siege inside the Azovstal plant, lack of access to medical care, deterioration of their physical and psychological condition are a clear violation of Chapter IX of Article 55 of the Charter of the United Nations, wrote in a letter the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk to Head of the MSF’s mission in Ukraine Michel-Olivier Lacharité.

The official also noted that under its charter the MSF provides assistance to people in need or victims of armed conflict.

Therefore, based on the principles guided by the MSF, the Ministry for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine asks to organize a mission to evacuate the defenders of Mariupol, who are currently at the Azovstal metallurgical plant. Iryna Vereshchuk emphasized that they should assess their physical and mental condition, collect evidence of the conditions they are staying in, and provide medical care to Ukrainians whose human rights have been violated.
