Ministry of Youth and Sports: President signs law that will increase youth involvement in the development of their communities

On 6 January 2025, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed Law No. 3703-IX on Local Self-Government in Ukraine, which significantly expands the opportunities for young people in local self-government. This Law opens new horizons for young people, providing them with real tools to influence the development of their communities.

In particular, young people will have the opportunity to initiate and participate in such forms of community work as local initiatives, public hearings, public consultations and electronic petitions, which can be submitted by citizens aged 14 and over.

"The adoption of this law is a significant step forward in ensuring the rights of young people to participate in the development of their communities. Young people get not only a voice, but also real tools of influence. This is an opportunity to initiate changes, allocate resources, propose solutions and implement ideas. The recovery and development of Ukraine is impossible without the active participation of young people, and this law becomes the basis for the formation of a new generation of leaders at the local level," said Matvii Bidnyi, Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine.
