The Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development and the NGO Transformation Office have signed a memorandum of cooperation.
The key area of joint work is the transformation of the public administration system to organize the effective restoration and development of communities, territories and infrastructure of Ukraine.
The main tasks identified by the parties are to create conditions for sustainable urban development, improve the efficiency of city officials through educational programs and cooperation with international donor organizations and financial institutions, develop agglomerations and build a public system of city management controlled by the community.
"The participation of civil society organizations directly in shaping changes, implementing and monitoring them can significantly increase the effectiveness of reforms. Together with the Maxym Bakhmatov Transformation Office, we will work to ensure that the reconstruction of cities becomes a qualitative step forward for the cities themselves and their management systems," said Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine/Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development.
The parties also agreed to cooperate in creating civil security infrastructure in cities, adapting city facilities for people with limited mobility, providing basic services and services for citizens, urban development, water supply network, preservation of architectural objects, and implementation of environmental standards in urban development.
"City management and development is not about politics, but about management and efficiency," said Maksym Bakhmatov, the founder and CEO of the Transformation Office.
All reporting on the results of the work and progress will be open to the public. The signed document provides for a two-year term of work (January 2023 - January 2025).
The partnership between the Maxym Bakhmatov Transformation Office and the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development does not involve any state budget or Ministry funds. Funding will come from international donor assistance.
The Transformation Office is a non-governmental organization that has been creating expert urban projects to improve the lives of citizens since 2019.
