Ukraine greatly appreciates the support of its partners from UNDP and the Government of Japan, which are implementing projects in Ukraine to restore energy infrastructure, strengthen the resilience of the power system and develop distributed generation.

This was emphasised by Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Mykola Kolisnyk during a meeting of the Supervisory Board of projects funded by the Government of Japan (JSB), which aim to promote human security in Ukraine.

“We are grateful to the Government of Japan and UNDP for the assistance provided to Ukraine in the framework of projects aimed at promoting human security in Ukraine. russia continues to target the Ukrainian energy sector, trying to harm the civilian population directly. Therefore, such cooperation projects are of particular importance,” said Mykola Kolisnyk.

The Deputy Minister emphasised the Ministry of Energy’s support for the launch of a new cooperation project set to begin on 31 March 2025. One of the priority areas of this initiative is the restoration of critical infrastructure and the provision of the necessary equipment to bolster the energy sector.

“We have a lot of equipment for electricity generation that was provided by UNDP for local governments and energy companies. This is part of the Government’s strategy to develop a decentralised energy generation system. This is the most sustainable investment, and we are very grateful for it. I believe that our future cooperation will lead to even more mutually beneficial projects,” concluded Mykola Kolisnyk.
