Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture: Ukraine participated in a meeting of the European Chemicals Agency for the first time
Ukraine participated for the first time in the activities of the European Chemicals Agency’s (ECHA) HelpNet network as an observer. The 21st HelpNet meeting and ECHA workshops on the REACH and CLP regulations, dedicated to current issues of the implementation of EU legislation in the field of chemical safety, took place in Helsinki.
During meetings with representatives of the European Commission and the European Chemicals Agency, the status of implementation and further steps to align Ukrainian chemical safety legislation with EU law were discussed, particularly regarding the registration of chemical substances.
Special attention was given to ECHA’s support for Ukraine as a candidate country, which is planned under the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA).
“Ukraine’s participation in such events is important for strengthening institutional capacity in the field of chemical safety and further aligning Ukrainian legislation with EU requirements. This contributes to the implementation of modern approaches to chemical risk management, as well as to improving the level of protection for human health and the environment,” noted Oleksandr Krasnolutskyi, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine.
Cooperation has also been established with representatives of the national REACH/CLP helpdesks in Switzerland, Estonia, Latvia, Germany, Norway, and other countries to exchange practical experience on developing effective tools for engaging with industry representatives.
Oksana Mylianyk, an expert from the Recovery and Reform Support Team (RST) of the Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine, participated in the events on behalf of Ukraine.
