The European Commission abolishes tariffs and quotas on Ukrainian exports for one year. The statement was published on the official website of the European Commission.
The EU is currently working to facilitate the land conveyance of goods to help export Ukrainian products. In particular, liberalization of conditions for Ukrainian truck drivers transporting goods between Ukraine and the EU, facilitation of transit and use of EU infrastructure to direct Ukrainian exports to third countries have begun.
The EC emphasizes that as a result of the suspension of import duties on all Ukrainian exports to the European Union for one year, simplification of logistics, Ukrainian producers will have an opportunity to preserve their global trade position and deepen cooperation with EU countries.
European Commission Executive Vice-President and Commissioner for Trade Valdis Dombrovskis, said: "The EU has never before delivered such trade liberalisation measures, which are unprecedented in their scale: granting Ukraine zero tariff, zero quota access to the EU market… These measures will directly help Ukrainian producers and exporters. They will inject confidence into the Ukrainian economy and send a strong signal that the EU will do whatever it takes to help Ukraine in its hour of need."
"Since the beginning of the war, when our ports had been blocked, Ukraine brought up among partner countries the need to support the export of our agricultural products. After all, apart from our country, we feed 400 million people worldwide. Global food security depends on us to the great extent. Thanks to the firm position and negotiations of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, the painstaking work of the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, simplified access of Ukrainian goods and products to the European market has become possible. In the last month, persistent and important for Ukraine negotiations with the EU on the abolition of quotas on Ukrainian agricultural products have intensified. Today we have received a positive response from the European Commission. We hope that its proposal will be agreed by the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union," commented Mykola Solskyy, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, the decision.
