Prime Minister: Government always protects the interests of citizens, so we call on the local authorities to follow this principle
The Government in its work is guided by the interests of Ukrainians, is conducting a policy of support and strengthening of regions, but calls on local authorities to assume the same responsibilities and to engage in the modernization of infrastructure and municipal economy. This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman on air of the ICTV channel in the Freedom of Speech program, commenting on the difference in utility tariffs in different regions.
The Prime Minister recalled that the Government updated gas consumption norms for households without heat meters and instructed Naftogaz of Ukraine to provide consumers with meters.
"We will always be on the side of citizens. However, we cannot resolve all local problems at the central level. This is a direct responsibility of mayors", Volodymyr Groysman said.
He emphasized that public utility system is a direct responsibility of the local authorities which must take care of the modernization of the economy, infrastructure, thus to create fair tariffs and fair consumption that will be acceptable to citizens.
