The new leadership of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine focuses on the maximum publicity of its activities. This includes establishing transparent procedures in the medical procurement system.
This was stated by Minister of Health of Ukraine Maxym Stepanov at a meeting with Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Ukraine Melinda Simmons.
“In Ukraine, it is critical to create the most transparent procurement system. I strongly oppose that the Ministry of Health directly engages in public procurement. This should be a separate enterprise that should only deal with procurement. Only then we can ensure maximum transparency and openness,” Maxym Stepanov said.
According to the Minister of Health, Ukraine appreciates the assistance of international partners and that of the United Kingdom in the health sector. At that, Maxym Stepanov added, in parallel with the fight against the coronavirus, the Ministry is actively conducting an audit of the healthcare system, with appropriate conclusions and recommendations on the reform of medicine be made in the aftermath.
UK Ambassador to Ukraine Melinda Simmons stated that Great Britain supports Ukraine on its reform path and is ready to provide appropriate support if necessary.
