Minister of Justice of Ukraine Denys Maliuska and Deputy Ministers of Justice Liudmyla Suhak and Oleksandr Banchuk met with representatives of the European Commission, headed by Marlene Madsen, Deputy Director and Head of the Economic and Sectoral Policies Unit in the Ukraine Service, Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR), and representatives of the EU Delegation to Ukraine.
The meeting focused on the implementation by the Ministry of Justice of the Ukraine Plan indicators under the Ukraine Facility for the third and fourth quarters of 2024.
During the meeting, the parties discussed reforms related to improving the legislative framework for a more effective fight against corruption, in particular, amendments to the Criminal Code and the Criminal Procedure Code to improve the procedure for plea bargaining, as well as bankruptcy reforms, namely the implementation of EU Directive 2019/1023 and the status of the relevant draft law.
In addition, the meeting addressed the status of implementation of the recommendations presented in the EU Enlargement Report.
The Minister of Justice thanked the representatives of the foreign delegation for the assistance and support provided to Ukraine by the European Union.
The representatives of the foreign delegation, in turn, stressed the importance of implementing the measures set out in the Ukraine Plan and expressed their readiness for further support and cooperation in this area.
