Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, called on international donors to focus on current projects, including winter preparations, during a national telethon.
This is the second time that Ukrainians are preparing for winter in the context of a full-scale war. The state therefore needs all possible support to ensure a successful heating season.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that it was important to support long-term projects, including employment and housing for IDPs. However, it is now necessary to focus on current issues that need to be resolved as soon as possible.
According to Iryna Vereshchuk, humanitarian response is now an important task. This includes building up the necessary reserves in communities. In particular, firewood, heaters, warm clothes and food packages. Therefore, the same projects as last year must be implemented this winter.
“First of all, we have to get through this winter and ensure the comfort and safety of our citizens. And then – to move forward and develop,” concluded the head of the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories.
