A unified state policy for veterans should be formed in Ukraine.
This was stressed by Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories, on regional television.
According to the official, the number of veterans will soon increase many times over. Therefore, it is necessary to develop steps towards the formation of a unified state policy for veterans.
A new law on veterans should be the first important step in this direction.
“The President has set the tasks for its development. We must work on them and fulfil all the components,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.
Iryna Vereshchuk recalled, among other things, the pilot project on the introduction of an institute of veterans’ assistants. According to her, every veteran should have an assistant. It is important that this is done on a peer-to-peer basis. So that veterans who have been through this journey and can share their experiences can help each other.
“Our veterans should not have to stand in queues and feel a lack of respect and attention. Therefore, providing them with decent treatment and all the necessary conditions to resume a normal life is a top priority for the state,” the official concluded.
