Iryna Vereshchuk had a working meeting with ECHO Director-General Maciej Popowski


Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk held a working meeting with Maciej Popowski, Director-General of the European Commission’s Directorate General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO).

During the meeting, special attention was paid to preparations for the winter period, especially in the frontline areas. Namely, the need for additional generators, cogeneration systems, vouchers (cash assistance) for the purchase of solid household fuel (including firewood and briquettes). It also addresses the needs of internally displaced persons for temporary accommodation.

In July, the European Union is expected to allocate additional funds to Ukraine for these urgent needs.

Iryna Vereshchuk thanked the European Commission and ECHO in particular for supporting Ukraine in the context of the war with russia.

Following the meeting, ECHO representatives pledged to continue supporting Ukraine. First of all, in preparing for the autumn-winter period and meeting priority humanitarian needs.
