The Government program Prykhystok [Shelter – ed.] is being improved, said Deputy Prime Minister - Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Iryna Vereshchuk during a live broadcast on the Rada TV channel.
First, from October 1, citizens and organizations accepting internally displaced persons for temporary accommodation will receive a doubled amount of monetary compensation: UAH 900 instead of UAH 450 per month.
This became possible thanks to the agreement between the Government and the Ukrainian Red Cross Society. The latter undertakes the financing of the increase in compensation. A memorandum on that will be signed today, after which the Cabinet of Ministers will adopt a corresponding resolution.
Second, the Government expanded the list of persons who have the right to host internally displaced persons. Non-profit organizations, religious organizations and others expand the list containing state and communal enterprises. All who are ready to shelter internally displaced persons.
Third, at the initiative of the Ministry for Reintegration of Temporary Occupied Territories, another innovation is being introduced: compensation for sheltering IDPs will not be calculated as received income when calculating subsidies.
"We are sincerely grateful to the Ministry of Social Policy for supporting this initiative. Thousands of evacuees are now in need of shelter. And the state must make advances for all those who are ready to provide it!" emphasized Iryna Vereshchuk.
