Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine Ihor Petrashko summoned a consultative working meeting with representatives of national associations of industrialists, entrepreneurs and trade unions.
In particular, in the discussion were participating President of the Ukrainian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Anatolii Kinakh, Chairman of the Federation of Employers of Ukraine Dmytro Oliynyk, President of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Hennadii Chyzhykov, Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine Hryhorii Osovyy, Chairman of the Entrepreneurs’ Council within the CMU Leonid Kozachenko and others.
The key topics raised at the meeting were as follows: the need to appoint a separate deputy for industrial development, to renew the work of the Coordinating Council on Industrial Policy, and develop an effective industry.
“Currently, the Ukrainian industry produces almost 16% of GDP, but the potential of this sector is much greater. To restore and strengthen the promising directions of the industry, our main task is to create clear and understandable rules of the game for all stakeholders,” said Ihor Petrashko.
According to him, these rules should base on the following steps: providing Ukrainian businesses access to cheap and long-term financing; public procurement localization, that is, giving preferences to those producing in Ukraine; support of export potential (in particular, conducting anti-dumping investigations, strengthening the work of the export credit agency).
In addition, strategic vision is important, that is, special support for those areas of the economy that will be in demand in 20 or more years.
The participants of the meeting expressed their suggestions and agreed to maintain a dialogue in order to find common solutions on certain issues.
