Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko met with Minister of Economic Affairs and Information Technology of Estonia Tiit Riisalo. The parties discussed the need to increase sanctions pressure on russia, in particular in the nuclear sector.
German Galushchenko stressed that the international community should step up pressure on the aggressor state, which continues to terrorise Ukraine and the world. He emphasised the need for strict control over compliance with sanctions in the energy sector to prevent russia from evading them, and noted that Ukraine counted on Estonia's support for the relevant measures.
"The world should also impose sanctions on the russian nuclear industry. We have to terminate russia's membership in the IAEA and make the aggressor state understand that nuclear terrorism is not compatible with the principles of nuclear and radiation safety," the Minister said, stressing that russia is not making concessions on the de-occupation of the ZNPP and the proposals of IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi to ensure nuclear safety at the plant.
The parties also focused on areas of cooperation in the process of restoring Ukraine's energy sector.
The Minister of Energy thanked Estonia for its support for Ukrainian energy sector. Since March 2022, Ukraine has received three shipments of humanitarian aid from Estonia totalling over 11 tonnes, including current and voltage transformers.
