Power engineers have restored electricity supply in most regions that suffered damage to energy facilities as a result of a massive russian attack. Repairs will continue round the clock until electricity is fully restored to Ukrainian homes.
This was stated by Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko on the air of the National News Telethon.
According to German Galushchenko, this time russian terrorists employed a new tactic of striking – they used different types of missiles and drones simultaneously.
“Unfortunately, there are hits to both generation and transmission facilities, i.e. power substations. The situation is not easy, but we can already state that power supply, which was limited in 14 regions on March 9, has been restored. Repairs are ongoing and will continue round the clock until power supply is fully restored,” the Minister said.
German Galushchenko also added that as a result of russia’s 15th massive shelling of Ukraine’s energy system, Zaporizhzhia NPP was de-energized for the sixth time. The plant was forced to switch to backup power from diesel generators.
“The whole world sees that russians do not care about any risks of a possible nuclear accident. And today, thanks to Ukraine’s continuous support of the plant’s safety systems, all diesel generators that provide backup power to ZNPP have been activated. Currently, the power supply to the plant, which has been provided by Ukraine for more than a year of occupation of ZNPP, has been restored,” the Minister said.
The Head of the Ministry of Energy noted that since October 10, when russian terrorists began regular massive attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities, Ukrainian power engineers had developed a number of mechanisms for acting in certain extreme conditions.
“Over this period, we have developed technical solutions that allow us to keep the system integral. And today we have proved it: despite another massive night attack, by the morning Ukraine’s energy system remained operational,” the Minister stressed.
