Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko took part in an emergency meeting of the High-Level Advisory Board on another massive russian missile attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. The meeting was attended by energy ministers of the G7+ countries, the European Commissioner for Energy, and representatives of international organizations.

“The kremlin does not give up its intention to destroy Ukraine’s energy sector and is using a new tactic: firing all types of missiles and drones simultaneously at generation and distribution facilities. Despite the strong performance of Ukraine’s air defense system, unfortunately, we do not have the means to destroy some types of these missiles. Therefore, there are hits to energy infrastructure facilities,” said German Galushchenko.

The Energy Minister noted that the strikes targeted thermal generation facilities and distribution systems, and damaged the transmission line powering the Zaporizhzhia NPP. In a few hours, Ukrainian power engineers restored power supply to the plant from the Ukrainian energy system, once again saving ZNPP from a possible accident.

“russia is targeting critical civilian infrastructure and deliberately destroying the transmission lines of Europe’s largest nuclear power plant. By its actions, the aggressor continues to blackmail the entire world with a nuclear disaster. What else does russia have to do to make the world react and stop its cooperation with rosatom? We urge our partners to take decisive steps to impose sanctions against the aggressor’s nuclear industry and deprive russia of the benefits of IAEA membership,” stressed Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko during the meeting.
