Pilot project for private air defense has yielded initial results, says Yulia Svyrydenko
The pilot project to establish a private air defense system, launched by the Government in November 2025, is already yielding tangible results. This was announced by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
Twenty-five Ukrainian companies from various regions have already joined efforts to strengthen the country’s multi-layered air defense system.
They have received the appropriate status from the Ministry of Defense and are in the process of forming their own air defense units. Some of these units are already carrying out combat missions.
According to the Head of Government, the first results of this work have already been recorded—more than 10 enemy drones, including Shahed and Zala models, have been destroyed.
“This is an example of how the state, the private sector, and the military can work together to strengthen the protection of critical infrastructure,” noted Yulia Svyrydenko.
She emphasized that the project makes it possible to scale up air defense capabilities without placing an additional burden on combat units.
For companies wishing to join the project, a clear mechanism is in place: submitting an application to the Ministry of Defense, verifying the company’s compliance with specified criteria, forming a team, training personnel, and continuing work in coordination with the Ukrainian Air Force.
A simplified application process applies to critical infrastructure companies—they are granted authorization on a declarative basis.
Applications to participate in the pilot project can be submitted via email to the Ministry of Defense: admou@post.mil.gov.ua.
The initiative is aimed to strengthen the protection of facilities on the ground and reduce response time to air threats. All decisions are taken under the supervision of the military command and within the framework of the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s unified air defence system.
