Ukraine's economy sees growth 9 quarters in a row - State Statistics Service

Ukraine's economy grew by 3.1% in Q1 of 2018 compared with Q1 of 2017. According to the data released by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, economy sees growth 9 quarters in a row. The growth amounts to 0.9% as compared with the 4th quarter of 2017.

The positive dynamics are affirmed by the indicators of international trade. Thus, in the first quarter of 2018, exports of goods and services grew by 9.1 % to $ 13.6 billion, while import growth has reached 11.3 % that amounts to $ 13.7 billion. The European Union remains a key market for Ukraine. Export to the EU in Q1 of 2018 amounted to $ 5.7 billion. Moreover, during this period a positive trade balance was recorded, in particular country's exports exceeded imports by $ 27.5 million. Goods of chemical, light industry, mechanical engineering, and woodworking prevail in the commodity nomenclature of exports.
