During his working visit to Washington, Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko met with Director of the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) Enoh Ebong. During the meeting, the parties focused on the expansion of USTDA projects in Ukraine related to the restoration, reconstruction and development of the energy sector.
The head of the Ministry of Energy emphasised that the key objective of Ukraine’s energy sector recovery is to decentralise power generation to ensure stable operation of the energy system. To achieve these goals, it is planned to develop renewable, gas turbine and gas piston power generation, and Ukraine invites American partners to work together to implement such projects.
According to German Galushchenko, projects to decentralise power generation and introduce smart grids are already being implemented in a number of regions, but the number of such projects should increase.
“USTDA has a successful track record of implementing projects to support the resilience and efficiency of power grids, decentralise power generation, and enhance energy independence and security in a number of countries. We are interested in involving American partners in the implementation of such projects in Ukraine,” the Minister stressed.
The meeting also discussed cooperation and involvement of American companies in the modernisation of power and thermal power plants, investment in biofuel processing projects, and the development of energy storage systems using the most innovative technologies.
