State Inspectorate for Energy Supervision: Japan helps restore Ukrainian infrastructure

State Inspectorate for Energy Supervision of Ukraine, posted 15 May 2023 13:21

Since the beginning of the full-scale aggression of the russian federation, all civilised humanity has been providing Ukraine with all possible assistance in the form of weapons, medicines, equipment and various materials, etc.

Methodological assistance through experience and training of specialists in the best practices of restoration is a significant contribution to the victory of our country over the aggressor and to the restoration of the housing, social and energy infrastructure destroyed by it.

Thus, the next step in such assistance was a training project on the restoration and reconstruction of Ukraine in an emergency situation, organised for Ukrainian specialists by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Between May 14 and 27, representatives of Ukrainian executive authorities and local governments will visit Japan to learn about Japanese experience and expertise in urban reconstruction after war and natural disasters. Participants will be guided in solving complex tasks such as managing demolition waste, developing a reconstruction plan, promoting local economic development and job creation, ensuring energy supply, etc.

Ruslan Slobodian, Head of the State Inspectorate for Energy Supervision, will be among the participants.

The visit will explore new approaches to address current challenges in the restoration of facilities, including in the energy sector. The parties will exchange views on key areas and strategic plans for further development and partnership.

In addition, participation in the JICA project will provide an opportunity to re-inform international partners about the war crimes committed by the russian federation on the territory of Ukraine and to discuss ways and means of combating the aggressor.

Such a project from JICA will help to establish working contacts, strengthen cooperation between countries and facilitate the exchange of experience in key areas of restoration and functioning of the energy sector.
