  • State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving outlines prospects for cooperation between Ukraine and Greece in the direction of low-carbon development

Energy efficiency and green energy can be a platform for the development of mutually beneficial cooperation between Ukraine and Greece. This was announced by Konstiantyn Hura, Acting Head of the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving, during the online business conference "New prospects for Cooperation: Ukraine - Greece".

"There is a growing trend in the world towards sustainable development and decarbonization in order to improve the quality of life of people and prevent climate change. These areas are also in the focus of Ukraine's attention. We are already preparing for the European Green Deal and are open to cooperation with EU countries," said Konstiantyn Hura.

The State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving together with the Ministry of Energy continues to work on creating favorable conditions, incentives and financial instruments to reduce the energy intensity of the economy. These include a new 5-year targeted energy efficiency program for various sectors of the economy, initiatives to revitalize bioenergy, restore energy service, launch the Decarbonisation Fund, develop small generation from renewables and much more.

"The Investment Map developed by the Agency with partners - UAMAP (http://www.uamap.org.ua) continues to operate for investors. This open web resource accumulates and demonstrates numerous potential projects that are planned in the regions and require funding totaling almost 5 billion euros," said K. Hura.

Kostiantyn Hura is convinced that the realization of great potential in the field of energy efficiency and clean energy will help increase the competitiveness of the economy and welfare of the population of both countries.
