
The State continues to rehabilitate housing, power system and critical infrastructure: Denys Shmyhal
The Government adopted a decision to allocate funds to finance the reconstruction in Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv regions. Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal announced this during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on 15 May.
Hence, the Government earmarked UAH 298 million to implement four reconstruction projects in Zaporizhzhia region: three multi-storey residential buildings and one healthcare facility.
“The relevant funding will be allocated from the Fund for Elimination of the Consequences of Armed Aggression. In total, more than UAH 7 billion has already been disbursed from the Fund this year,” noted Denys Shmyhal.
According to him, among other things, a protocol order to allocate another UAH 598 million for reconstruction projects in the Kharkiv region was endorsed. Of these funds, UAH 240 million will be used to repair the Kharkiv Regional Hospital, and UAH 358 million - to emergency repair and overhaul of six multi-storey buildings in Kharkiv.
“The reconstruction continues every day and every hour,” Denys Shmyhal emphasized.
He added, since 2022, there had been restored tens of thousands of energy, housing, social, transport and critical infrastructure facilities. Moreover, more than 30,000 square kilometres of Ukrainian land have surveyed and cleared. More than 100,000 Ukrainian families have received payments and certificates under the eVidnovlennia programme, the Prime Minister accentuated.
“Payments for nearly 94,000 families to compensate for damaged housing have been agreed. We have issued 18,000 certificates for the purchase of new housing to compensate for the destroyed housing,” .
He also highlighted the rehabilitation of power facilities being among the topmost objectives.
“We plan to commission about 1 GW of generation in 2025. We are constantly preparing new joint projects with partners. We are working to provide the necessary resources for the reconstruction,” summed up the Prime Minister.
