During a working visit to Kharkiv region, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal visited the village of Tsyrkuny, where he inspected the consequences of the destruction caused by russian aggression.
“A year ago, the village of Tsyrkuny in Kharkiv region was liberated from the occupiers. This year it was selected for a pilot project to restore it using the ‘build back better’ principle. Our goal is not just to restore a specific facility. Our goal is to comprehensively rebuild the village according to modern standards. This should become a model for further restoration and transformation of the entire country,” the Head of Government noted.
The Prime Minister inspected the damage to the Tsyrkuny Lyceum, whose building is more than 100 years old. A project to build a civil defence facility is planned for the institution.
The Head of Government was briefed by the Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration and the head of the hromada on reconstruction and demining. Denys Shmyhal stressed that these two processes should be carried out simultaneously. He gave relevant instructions to the State Emergency Service and related agencies.
The Prime Minister also instructed the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development and the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development to draw up step-by-step plans for the priority restoration of facilities. According to the Head of Government, the administrative service centres, medical and educational institutions should be rebuilt first.
Denys Shmyhal discussed with the head of the hromada the compiling of a register of damaged and destroyed property. He urged the local authorities to speed up the process, so that people don’t have to wait for the reconstruction to begin.
