During a working visit to Kharkiv region, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal examined the consequences of the destruction of a combined heat and power plant as a result of russian shelling. The Head of Government was briefed by the CHPP management on the replacement of equipment and plans to restore and protect the facility.
“One of the areas most affected by russian terror is the energy sector. The damage is enormous. We have seen the destruction with our own eyes. We talked to power engineers about their needs. We will help ensure that everything works properly until the next winter,” said Denys Shmyhal.
CHPPs and TPPs will now be able to use the 5-7-9 concessional lending programme to restore equipment damaged by the fighting. The Government made the decision at a meeting on May 12.
The Prime Minister also noted that the reconstruction of heat supply facilities and networks had begun in Kharkiv region and four other regions.
“We are preparing pilot projects to decentralise the energy system. We are looking for resources and opportunities to do everything in time for the next heating season,” the Head of Government stressed.
