Today, the situation in the energy sector remains under control, despite russia’s terror against the energy and gas infrastructure. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at a meeting of the Cabinet on 21 February.
The Head of Government stressed that russia was deliberately targeting gas production facilities, seeking to destroy the gas infrastructure. In addition, the enemy continues to carry out massive missile and drone attacks against energy facilities and is trying to cause a humanitarian catastrophe and leave Ukrainian cities without heating, water and electricity.
“In recent days, the enemy has been particularly active in attacking the South of Ukraine: Mykolaiv, Kherson and Odesa. As a result of the attacks, some of these cities were left without electricity and heating,” the Head of Government noted.
According to him, all responsible agencies and power engineers worked around the clock to repair the damaged equipment.
“Within a day, we managed to restore heat supply to Mykolaiv. Tens of thousands of people have already received electricity and heat back. We are also returning heat to Odesa. Two boiler houses have resumed operation. Hospitals, schools and kindergartens are already heated. Specialists are working on the adjustment of internal heating systems in residential buildings,” the Prime Minister said.
