Denys Shmyhal discusses preparing power generation facilities for winter with market participants
First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal held a meeting with the leadership of one of the state-owned energy companies regarding the preparation of power generation facilities for the fall and winter period.
During the meeting, each facility damaged by russian attacks was analyzed in detail. As Denys Shmyhal noted, it is important that restoration deadlines and scheduled repairs be met within the established timelines. The company’s availability of the necessary equipment was also assessed. The Minister of Energy instructed that resources be secured not only for restoration but also for creating equipment reserves.
“We are exploring all possible options—from rapid procurements through the Ukraine Energy Support Fund to utilizing decommissioned equipment from partners,” emphasized Denys Shmyhal.
They also focused on the accumulation of energy resources.
A separate priority is protection. The condition of each facility was assessed. Decisions were identified to strengthen protection and accelerate its construction before the start of the fall-winter heating period.
The participants also discussed the company’s strategy for developing generating capacity—attracting investments in gas-fired generation, solar power plants, and energy storage systems. They separately addressed market issues requiring immediate solutions.
“We are keeping the situation under control and continuing to coordinate preparations of the energy infrastructure for the coming winter,” emphasized Denys Shmyhal.
