In Kherson region, Denys Shmyhal examines working conditions of hospitals and presents gifts to healthcare sector workers

During his working trip to the Kherson region on 25 July, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal inspected the preparation for the school year and the heating season in the region. The focus was also on the conditions of treatment of patients in medical institutions of the region.

In particular, the Government team inspected the shelters and the organisation of the educational process in one of the secondary education institutions, which is preparing to open its doors to students in September. With the support of UNICEF and the Innovation and Digital Education Association, a digital education centre has been set up here.

The school's shelter has two classrooms, necessary furniture, backup lighting, ventilation and internet - everything for a full and safe education.

"There should be more such institutions in the frontline regions. The Government will facilitate this. In particular, this year we have allocated almost UAH 169 million to Kherson region to create safe conditions in schools," said Denys Shmyhal.

Preparation for the heating season in the country, and in the region in particular, is one of the Government's priority issues. Therefore, another point of the Prime Minister's working visit was a visit to one of the boiler houses with a cogeneration unit.

"Thanks to this equipment, it will be possible to supply heat to more than 20,000 families without interruption, provide electricity for the internal needs of the boiler house, and transfer the remaining energy to the general grid," said Denys Shmyhal.

In total, Khersonteploenergo already has 7 such units received in cooperation with USAID.

In addition, the Prime Minister heard information on the restoration of water and heat supply facilities. It should be noted that this year UAH 177 million was allocated to Kherson region for such needs.

Denys Shmyhal also got acquainted with the conditions of treatment in medical institutions in Kherson region, which are constantly under enemy fire.

The Government officials inspected the process of arranging a modern surgery and intensive care units underground for one of the hospitals. The state has provided a subvention for this project. The work has recently started and is scheduled to be completed in autumn.

The officials also got familiarised with the equipment that guarantees uninterrupted power supply. According to the Prime Minister, out of nine hospitals in the Kherson region, eight have backup heat supply, five have backup wells and all nine have backup power supply.

"Together we have also managed to fully restore 31 medical facilities. Another 37 have been partially restored. We are setting up modular outpatient clinics for certain hromadas," said Denys Shmyhal.

The Head of Government presented valuable gifts to the employees of medical institutions in the region and congratulated all those who work professionally and conscientiously in the medical field, helping people every day, on the upcoming Medical Worker's Day.
